Abstract: 

To improve traffic safety during shunting operations, an option has been proposed for introducing a shunting automatic locomotive signaling system (SALS) on the down hump of the Taishet sorting station. The Taishet sorting station is considered as an automation object, provided that shunting operations and combining the system with existing ones – electric centralization system, automatic hump centralization, dispatch centralization – are fulfilled. When using the SALS system together with other devices, it is possible to obtain information about the state of electrical centralization of the interstation, as well as transfer route jobs from the automated workstation of the station duty officer directly to the shunting locomotive. At the Taishet sorting station, the station duty officer will be able to perform the following functions: register the change of railway station duty shifts; keep control of the routes of trains and shunting locomotives using electric centralization devices; determine the occupancy of turnouts; introduce and remove locomotives from the SALS system; transmit route destination and cancellation commands to locomotives; appoint and cancel orders to limit the speed of locomotives when moving to places of track works. The use of the SALS system will make it possible to comprehensively modernize the existing signaling, centralization devices and automate the management of shunting operations. The proposed version of the introduction of a shunting system for automatic locomotive signaling on the down hump of the Taishet sorting station will reduce rolling stock derailments during shunting operations related to the human factor and reduce the cost of restoring the station's fixed assets.
